We partnered with American Cheese Society to sponsor a free, special series of educational webinars, presented by ACS, beginning in May 2020. 

 

"Monitoring Milk Quality on the Farm"

Excellent milk quality means milk that is free from bacterial contamination and antibiotics. Presenter, Joe Klopfenstein, DVM DABVP, will discuss strategies to improve milk quality, cheese quality, and animal health and welfare. While in dairy practice in Vermont for over 25 years, Joe worked with many innovative cheese producers on improving and monitoring their milk quality. He developed some strategies for monitoring milk quality that would translate to the farm or vet practice level. This included monitoring for somatic cell count, bacteria count, Staph counts and Staph aureus surveillance, mastitis culture and treatment selection. These strategies apply to both cattle and goats. "The Cheese Industry Guide to Inclusivity of the LGBTQ+ Community"

Through the insights and personal stories of panel members, this presentation both celebrates the cheese industry’s past inclusivity of the LGBTQ+ community while also exploring new steps we may all take to further accommodate our consumers and employees. Audience members will not only learn how businesses and organizations may adjust to comply with federal, state, and local employee and human rights regulations pertaining to LGBTQ+ persons, but also how inclusivity actively improves a companies’ profits and public image. To best examine how issues of sexuality and gender identity effect all links of the dairy supply chain, this panel consists of four seasoned LGBTQ+ industry professionals and one moderator, each working from a different area within the industry.
